Give Us 3 Minutes

When you turn to Fairewinds for news, you expect accurate and undistorted analysis of nuclear energy issues and risks. That kind of analysis is hard work for the Fairewinds crew. Every video, podcast, newsletter and presentation we do takes research and planning. The enthusiasm and creativity of Fairewinds’ crew enables us to bring you the most accurate information possible in a timely manner.

This is an important time for Fairewinds because a gracious donor will give us $3 for every dollar you contribute. That means your $100 donation becomes $400, or a $50 donation is actually $200. The success of this June fund drive begins and ends with you. So please, Support Our Site (SOS) and make a donation. Thank you from all of us on the Fairewinds crew.

FAIREWINDS ENERGY EDUCATION – Fundraiser 6-3-15

AG: Hi. I’m Arnie Gundersen from Fairewinds Energy Education. At the beginning of May, I gave a 20-minute speech at Northwestern University in Chicago. A Forbes Magazine reporter who heard the speech wrote a story that’s been read by 440,000 people. Here’s my quote from that speech that’s been shared by people all over the world. “We all know the wind doesn’t blow consistently and the sun doesn’t shine every day. But the nuclear industry would have you believe that humankind is smart enough to develop techniques to store nuclear waste for a quarter of a million years. But at the same time, humankind is so dumb, we can’t figure out a way to store solar electricity overnight. To me, that doesn’t make sense. But when you listen to Fairewinds, you expect accurate and undistorted analysis of nuclear energy issues and risks. That kind of analysis is hard work for the Fairewinds crew, but we know how important it is for you to have undistorted information. For example, that 20-minute speech at Northwestern took 7 days to research and to write. One month before the Northwestern presentation, I spoke at the United Kingdom at the House of Commons. And then I gave a different speech up in Cumbria. Again, both were 20 minutes and both took a long time to research and to prepare. Today, I’m asking you to go to the Support Our Site – SOS – button at Fairewinds dot org and make a donation. This is an important time for Fairewinds because a gracious donor will give us $3 for every dollar you contribute. That means your $100 donation becomes $400, or a $50 donation is actually $200.

MG: Hi. I’m Maggie Gundersen, the founder of Fairewinds Energy Education. Every video, podcast, newsletter and presentation we do takes research and planning. The enthusiasm and creativity of Fairewinds’ crew enables us to bring you the most accurate information possible in a timely manner.

CP: Working for Fairewinds means working outside the box. Every film, every speech, every technical nuance we produce is a Fairewinds crew collaboration. We don’t just have one person working on our videos or just one person in charge of our website. We all work creatively together, brainstorming and bringing our different skills to the table to make Fairewinds accessible to everyone.

DL: Taking the nuclear industry’s technical language and translating it into a narrative that is accessible to us non-nuclear engineers is crucial work, especially when nuclear disasters like the triple meltdown of Fukushima Daiichi occurred. Every day, I’m humbled and honored to be working for such a productive and important news source.

MG: I worked in nuclear public relations and fuel reload core design. I told people how safe these plants are, and I believed what I said. I was wrong. And now I work every day to share the truth about nuclear power with our viewers. Please join us as a supporting member so that we may continue to use our voices to keep you informed.

AG: (3:50) If everyone who read the Forbes article donated just $1 to Fairewinds, we’d have enough money to move forward for more than 2 years. The success of this June fund drive begins and ends with you. So please, visit the SOS button at the Fairewinds dot org site and make a donation. Thank you from all of us on the Fairewinds crew.
