Knowledge is Power

Knowledge is power. The Fairewinds Crew is committed to providing you with the most up to date, undistorted news about risks at atomic power plants. We believe that this year, 2015, marks the tipping point for our energy future. The necessity of creating a paradigm shift away from both fossil fuels and atomic power to a future of safe, clean, renewable energy is now. Since 2008, Fairewinds Energy Education has pushed for a nuclear free future where small modular renewables provide the safe, clean, and economical energy solution that innovative technologies like TESLA’s solar+battery power can help provide. Currently, Fairewinds is working with an amazing group of interns from the University of Vermont involved in a capstone project focused on energy and sustainability research and looks forward to incorporating more interns into new projects this Spring. We’ll also work with Dr. Les Kanat, professor at Johnson State College and Fairewinds’ Science Advisor, during his 2016 sabbatical. Throughout 2016, we invite you to join us as we educate and advocate for a radiation-free future to pass on to our children and grandchildren. Thank you to all who came to listen to Fairewinds President Maggie Gundersen and her husband, Fairewinds Chief Engineer, Arnie Gundersen speak during their California tour! With your support, Fairewinds will continue to reach audiences worldwide as we speak truth to power and educate people throughout the world about the true risks of nuclear power. Your contribution provides the substantial funding necessary to accomplish all that we do. The information we provide is free to all, but not free to produce. That’s where you can step in. Keep Fairewinds’ work accessible, and help keep us going by donating today.

Hi, I’m Maggie Gundersen, President and Founder of Fairewinds Energy Education. It’s a pleasure to speak to you today about the importance of energy education. Fairewinds Crew is committed to providing you with the most up to date, undistorted news in nuclear safety and the necessity of creating a paradigm shift away from both fossil fuels and atomic power to a future of safe, clean, renewable energy.

On a Thursday night in late April 2015, my husband Arnie, Chief Engineer of Fairewinds Energy Education, delivered a speech at Northwestern University, where he was the first to announce Tesla's innovative Powerwall battery and debunk claims that atomic reactors are the perfect stop-gap between fossil fuels and renewable energy as nothing short of a nuke industry marketing ploy. Nearly half a million readers enjoyed journalist Jeff McMahon's article for Forbes Magazine that captures the excitement and buzz surrounding Tesla's big announcement and Arnie's auspicious speech. Since 2008, Fairewinds Energy Education has pushed for a nuclear free future where small modular renewables provide the safe, clean, and economical energy solution that innovative technologies like TESLA’s solar+battery power can provide.

At Fairewinds, we believe that this year, 2015, marks the tipping point for our energy future. While speaking at the World Uranium Symposium in Quebec City, Arnie spoke in front of an audience of 300 delegates suggesting policymakers and the energy industry support a locally distributed electric grid with small generators and battery storage. Arnie’s speech not only detailed the economic benefits of a renewable energy future but also the real economic risks of a nuclear powered one noting, “Policymakers would not be making the decision to build nuclear if they viewed risk based on the real world statistics.”

Currently, we are working with a group of amazing interns from the University of Vermont involved in a capstone project focused on energy and sustainability research. The Fairewinds Crew is looking forward to working with more bright young minds this Spring as we incorporate more interns into new projects. We’ll also work with Dr. Les Kanat, professor at Johnson State College and Fairewinds’ Science Advisor, during his 2016 sabbatical. Throughout 2016, we at Fairewinds Energy Education will be working with colleagues from around the world on environmental testing of radiation as we continue researching and teaching about atomic reactor decommissioning and by participating in several decommissioning symposiums.

At Fairewinds, we push to do more, contribute more, share more, and make our world a better place. We can’t continue this work without help from all of you. With your support, Fairewinds will continue to reach audiences worldwide as we educate for a better, safer renewable energy powered tomorrow. Your contribution provides the substantial funding necessary to accomplish all that we do, and it also feeds the fire to push forward, to do more. The information we provide is free to all, but not free to produce. That’s where you can step in. Keep Fairewinds’ work accessible, and help keep us going by donating today.
